Some Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession focusing on the joints, muscles and nerves of the body. Chiropractors work with their hands to manipulate and mobilise joints and muscles to influence the related ligaments, tendons and nerves. This restores function to the body and allows it to work at its optimal level.

What are my qualifications?

A Chiropractor spends 5 years at University gaining a Masters Degree in Chiropractic.
Once they have completed their undergraduate degree they must register with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) to be able to call themselves a Chiropractor.

Is treatment painful?

With adults and older children it is sometimes necessary to work on areas of the body which are painful and sore, these are often the areas that brought you to us in the first place.

Our approach is gentle and low force techniques are used as well as stronger manipulation where appropriate.

Are you covered by health insurance?

Many health insurance companies are happy to cover Chiropractic but as all policies are different you will need to check with your own insurance company before attending treatment to find out whether you are covered.
Some of the insurance companies I am registered with include Bupa, WPA, PruHealth, Aviva.

Do I need to be referred by my GP?

If you are coming as a private patient then you do not need to be referred by a GP.
If you wish to claim from a health insurance company they may require you to have a referral from a GP, but all policies are different so you will need to check beforehand.

Do you take x-rays?

X-ray facilities are not available at my premises. If an x-ray or other imaging is required I will refer you to another private clinic or your GP.

Do I need to bring anything with me when I come?

If you would like to claim through private health insurance please bring all your details to your appointment. You will need to make sure that you have been pre-approved for Chiropractic treatment if necessary.

If you take medications please bring a list of those including names and dosages.

Can I do anything to help with soreness?

Ice or a cold therapy product is the best thing to use when you have pain and soreness placed on the area of discomfort – this can help to reduce any inflammation which will in turn reduce the pain.

Keeping mobile as much as you can is very important as it helps the muscles loosen up and can reduce any pain caused by tension in the muscles and spasms. This is called active rest – make sure you are moving around but not doing any heavy work or bending and lifting.

360 Chiropractic cancellation policy

Our usual policy is 24 hours notice is required if you wish to cancel or reschedule your upcoming appointment.
